Letter to President Obama

Dear President Obama,

I am writing you today to inform you of an opportunity to help our country.

One of the gravest problems confronting the United States of America is in the field of healthcare. The greatest and most widespread diseases fall under the category called ‘chronic diseases’. These include obesity, diabetes, hypertension, arthritis and so on. The expense from treatments and lost productivity, along with the human suffering of these diseases is immense. The rapidly increasing cost of health care is directly linked to the increase in the prevalence of these diseases. With an aging population, and increasingly unhealthy lifestyles the negative effects of these diseases on our nation will only increase in the future.

The American medical establishment is working hard to find methods to overcome these chronic diseases, but they have not yet found a real breakthrough. For people with various medical conditions the only option is to take medication every day, or several times a day to suppress their symptoms. This approach is both costly because of the large quantities of pills required, and also dangerous because of the side effects of taking so much medication.

Without a new approach the country will have no way to escape crippling medical expenses and tremendous personal suffering.

There is a possible solution for this difficult situation. One person, my teacher,  Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi, through his education in Buddhism has come into possession of a healthcare method that is referred to as ‘Guang Huan Mi Zong Health Dharma’. This method of healthcare involves techniques of meditation and yoga that are able to relieve the symptoms and sufferings of patients of chronic diseases without any medication or surgeries. Through diligent practice symptoms can be greatly relieved and health can be restored. I have witnessed the effects myself, and I can personally attest that its effectiveness is beyond any form of medicine, alternative or conventional that exists today.

In his thirty years of teaching experience in the East, Master Ziguang Shang Shi has discovered that using Guang Huan Mi Zong, it is possible to improve, or cure many different conditions quickly and efficiently. Now that he has come to the United States, the Master would like to share his experience and knowledge with the United States Government and Medical Institutions so that he can make his own contribution to the people of this nation.

Although it has an origin in Buddhism, Guang Huan Mi Zong Health Dharma, is non-religious, and is based only on common human traits and desires that are appropriate for anyone.

Considering the great crisis arising in the healthcare system of the United States, I would like to encourage you Mr. President to arrange an investigation of this alternative method, a method that has so much potential to meet the needs and solve the problems of our great country.

Sincerely,

Joshua Rosenstein

A Life Changing Health Dharma Class

A Life-changing Class

A celebration for the Five World Buddhas Temple’s second anniversary was held by Guang Huan Mi Zong on June 28, 2012. The Buddhist temple is home to five golden Buddha statues and many Buddha tapestries. Hundreds of people coming from across the country and from around the world have attended the Health Dharma classes held in this temple in the past two years.

Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi delivered a speech to mark the special occasion, “This temple represents peace, health and harmony for all, and serves as a place to let people understand Buddhist teachings and Chinese culture.”

Following the celebration was a 3-day Health Dharma class taught by the Holy Master. Through learning the unique meditation techniques of the Health Dharma, many students found their energy level had dramatically increased, and attained a lot of positive insights into their lives.

Holy Ziguang Shang Shi encouraged all the students to do more good deeds, by sharing with others how they are benefited from practicing Guang Huan Mi Zong Health Dharma, they can gain merits and help to better the world.

Roger Sohn from San Francisco, brought 10 family members and friends to make the trip across the country for the Dharma class. He said, “The teaching that we receive, is really precious and rare, and you can only get it directly from the Master here. If a person is able to somehow get the opportunity and actually make it down here, what you get out of it is really amazing. It’s really incredible.”

“To me it was life-changing.” He was very happy that his families and friend were able to experience positive change in their lives.

Roger’s wife Tiffany wrote in her letter to Holy Ziguang Shang Shi, “Thank you so much for your teachings these past few days. I enjoyed every minute of it and will cherish it forever. I am so grateful to see such a big change in my husband, Roger.”

Tiffany’s sister Theresa wrote, “I highly respect you for what you’re trying to accomplish in this world. Not many people would/has the strength and conviction to do what you’re doing.”

Amanda Elsheshai, Tiffany’s good friend, who did not sleep well in the past, slept very well during the 3-day class. She wrote in her thank you letter, “I am searching for the additional strength, focus, and validation; I believe learning from you and receiving the light from you will help me get through it.”

Crystal felt her eye problem was relieved and became more positive; several other young Chinese Americans also wrote down their gratitude for becoming more focused, relaxed, and energetic in their thank you cards to the Holy Master.

Everyone completed the class with great joy and gratitude, and the hope of coming back for the advanced class in September.

I Needed to Make a Change

Dear Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi,

Thank you for the opportunity to learn the basics of Guang Huan mi Zong from you and allowing me to visit the beautifully peaceful shrine. I am extremely grateful for the experience and will always treasure it.

I came to you for the experience and teachings because I am interested in learning to help better myself and do good. I have been going through a difficult time the past several years and when Mimi Owyang introduced me to Betty and Miao Si in San Francisco I was able to learn from them and take that experience and energy to start changing things that needed to be changed in my life. I am continuing to make the necessary changes and am searching for the additional strength, focus, and validation to get me through it. I believe learning from you and receiving the light from you will help me get through it. I welcome any advice and feedback from you and would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you again for all that you do and for this wonderful experience. I look forward to learning further from you in the future.

Sincerely,

Amanda

More Than I Thought Possible

Dear Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi,

Thank you for allowing me this amazing experience. Thank you for your honorable teachings, for your enlightening leadership. I will truly cherish this experience, this experience for the rest of my life. Thank you. I will remember to do good deeds and not do bad deeds and remember to say thankful. I’ve received more from this experience than I thought possible. Thank you.

Duanwu Festival

[break]

Duan Wu Jie, which literally means Double Fifth Festival, is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month based on Chinese calendar. Duanwu is celebrated to commemorate the life of poet Qu Yuan, who was both a scholar and a public official born into the royal Chu clan.  Qu Yuan (339BC-278BC) regarded as one of the greatest Chinese cultural icons that ever lived, he was the first author in China to have his name associated with his verse. Qu’s unique style of verse (sao), broke traditional four character verse by adopting verses or varying length. His works are known as the Chu-ci or Songs of the South.

Legend has it that Qu Yuan suffered with depression after being slandered by corrupt public officials and went into exile. Anxiety and depression coupled with the military capture of his country’s capital, caused Qu Yuan, to commit ritual suicide by holding a large rock and wading into the Miluo River in protest. According to folklore, people threw rice into the river to keep the fish and evil spirits away from Qu Yuan’s body. Qu Yuan’s spirit appeared to his friends and asked them to wrap the rice in silk packages to ward off the dragon.

These rice packages became the traditional food known as zongzi. During Duanwu, people will prepare and eat rice dumpling (zongzi) made of sticky rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. It is often stuffed with meat and vegetable fillings.

Duanwu is also often called Dragon Boat Festival since Chinese communities in many countries hold Dragon Boat races in spirit of Duanwu celebration.
